One Square Club is the world’s most exclusive private members’ club. The Club's one square metre premises offers premium facilities, including a bar, exhibitions, games, live music and comedy.
The club is both a performance work and private members’ club. Ordinarily, there is only 1 member at a time, with membership to the club lasting for 1 day and the membership fee being influenced by the average market value of purchasing one square metre of property at where the club is located. It will be running slightly differently in Hastings, with memberships lasting about 10 minutes.
Created in response to the absurdity of the housing market, the ethos of the Club is informed by the social club, where community and gaming are core values. Reflecting this, artists exclusively from working class and lower socio-economic backgrounds will be programmed to exhibit and perform in the club.
