Artists in Residence: The Two Ians

THE TWO IANS are pleased to be artists in residence in the fast developing St Andrew's Mews.

Their work is distinctly different but shares a determination to re-use and re-cycle. IAN SHILLITO works with sea plastic collected from the fishing beach in Hastings. He uses this discarded material to fashion an amazing collection of fish and seabirds. IAN SKELTON collects fragments of library ephemera and weaves them into new narratives. Library date stamps are the foundation on which his multi layered mosaics are built.

THE TWO IANS feel they are a perfect fit for the Mews - the re-imagining of such a neglected resource is closely allied to their passion for making special things out of unpromising elements.

Both artists come from a storytelling background. IAN SHILLITO is a theatre arts practitioner and IAN SKELTON has written for Film, TV, Theatre and Radio. They hope to share their visual stories in various exhibitions and events over the coming months.
