'I may stay a little while...'

Nicole Zaaroura is an artist working across photography, performative processes, and

installation..

Developing the use of everyday gestures and choreographies, movement, and encounters,

she initiates a responsive process for translating the work into performative sculptural works

in peripheral and public spaces. She opens up conversations about space, body, place,

time and ephemerality, prompting a revolving door of questions.

Often situating her working process within site responsive residencies, she focuses on the

relationship between the body and site, of external and internal landscapes.

Her work includes both singular projects and collaborations and she has exhibited widely in gallery and non- gallery spaces, private and public spaces. She has worked site

specifically across the UK, Canada and Finland, Bosnia, Albania, Greece, France, Belgium and Italy, including The Venice International Performance Week, and the globally touring International Minimal Urban Video Performance Festival.

Born in London, she has a BA Fine Art from Central St Martins, and an MA Fine Art from the University of Northumbria. She is based in the UK.

Through her performative practice, Artist Nicole Zaaroura will continue exploring themes of protection, anchorage, armour, safety and disguise, themes that re emerged during a recent 2 month period spent in the Italian mountains.  As part of the  6 week residency at Unit 17 (Blue Door Gallery) St Andrew Mews,  she will be opening the doors to the public at 'INTERVALS', dates and events to be announced.
